Ramsgate is a village situated on the south coast of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa. It is located on the mouth of a river known by the Zulu name Bilhanolo (“The Marvellous boiler”). Ramsgate is truly a tropical paradise for those looking to escape the hustle and bust of the big city life. Ramsgate Fun Facts

  • 1800’s – Cattle Farmers from Kokstad area brought their cattle down to the coast for winter grazing.
  • 1895 - A ship carrying sugar “The Fascadale” was wrecked off the shore of Ramsgate.
  • 1923 - One of the first permanent residents to the area was Paul Buck.
  • 1931 - The first road from Port Shepstone south was started.
  • 1940 - The year the popular original landmark “The Crayfish Inn” was built by Noel Spiller.
